M65 (NGC 3623) in Leo
Mag 9,3 - surf.br. 12.8 - size 9,0' x 2,3' - class SBa
M65
13 Apr 2004 (Denmark) - C8 at f/6.3 - SXV-H9 - 30 min - DDP

Together with M66 and NGC 3628 this galaxy forms the famous Leo Triplet

M66 (NGC 3627) in Leo
Mag 8.9 - surf.br. 12.7 - size 9.1' x 4.1' - class SBb
M66
25 Mar 2004 - C8 at f/6.3 - SXV-H9 - LRGB = 12:10:8:8 min

This bright galaxy seems to have been disturbed by its neighbours in past encounters

NGC 3628 in Leo
Mag 9.5 - surf.br. 13.4 - size 13.1' x 3.1' - class Sb
NGC3628
13 Apr 2004 (Denmark) - C8 at f/6.3 - SXV-H9 - LRGB = 38:11:9:11 min

Very large, but considerably fainter (and more difficult to image) than the other two members of the Triplet

Leo I Group (M96 Group)

This galaxy group comprises the bright Messier objects M95, M96 and M105 and further NGC 3299, 3377, 3384, 3412 and 3489. The group is probably associated with the M66 group (Leo Triplet)

m95, m96, m105 M96 Group (M95, M96, M105, NGC 3384)

2005 Feb 27 - FS-60C with Sky90 reducer - SXV-H9
L = 56 min

M95 (NGC 3351)
Magnitude 9.7 - Size 7.3' x 4.4' - class SBb
M95
22 Mar 2004 - C8 at f/6.3 - SXV-H9 - 21 min

This galaxy with its pronounced bar belongs to the Leo I group together with M96 and M105

M96 (NGC 3368)
Mag 9,3 - surf.br. 13.1 - size 7.8' x 5.2' - class SBab R
M96 LRGB
07 Mar 2002 - C8 at F/6,3 - MX516 - L:R:G:B = 26:10:7:8 min

Bright and slightly peculiar spiral galaxy located less than one degree from both M95 and M105, all members of the Leo I galaxy group. It was the host of the bright type 1a supernova 1998bu which in May 1998 reached a maximum magnitude of 11,9

M105 (NGC 3379), NGC 3384 and NGC 3389
M105: Mag 9,3 - surf.br. 12.8 - size 5.3 x 4.8' - class E1
NGC3384: Mag 9,9 - surf.br. 12.6 - size 5.4' x 2.7' - class E7
NGC3389: Mag 11,9 - surf.br. 13.2 - size 2.9' x 1.3' - class Sc

M105
13 Apr 2004 (Denmark) - C8 at f/6.3 - SXV-H9 - 24 min

Another nice galaxy triplet in Leo. The two elliptical galaxies M105 (right) and NGC 3384 (left) belong to the Leo I (or M96) galaxy group. The irregular galaxy NGC 3389 at the lower left appears to be an unrelated background galaxy

Other galaxies

NGC 2903

NGC2903
24 Mar 2004 - C8 at f/6.3 - SXV-H9 - LRGB = 28:6:10:7 min

A large bright galaxy in the head of Leo.

NGC 3344 in Leo Minor
Mag 9.9 - size 7.1' x x 6.8' - SBbc R
NGC 3344
10 Apr 2004 (Denmark) - C8 at f/6.3 - SXV-H9 - 27 min

A very fine spiral with an outer ring. The brightest galaxy in Leo Minor
