NGC 2371/2372 (Dogbone Nebula) in Gemini Mag 13.0 - Size 1.2' x 0.9' - class 3a(4) 04 Feb 2005 - C8 at f/10 - SXV-H9 - CLS filter: 54 min First real try with SXV autoguider, however the seeing didn't really justify working at f/10. The guiding was not perfect with stars slightly egg-shaped. |
NGC 7662 (Blue Snowball) in Andromeda
Magnitude 8.6 - Size 17" x 14"

19 Dec 2004 - C8 at f/6.3 - SXV-H9 - R:G:B=9:20:9 x 30 sec - rescaled to 200%
This tiny but very bright nebula appears bluish in the eyepiece.

Small but fairly bright planetary nebula in the high northern sky.
NGC 1501 in Camelopardalis
Magnitude 12.0 (central star 14.4) - Size 56" x 48"

25 Jan 2004 - C8 at f/10 - SXV-H9 - LRGB=15:4:4:3 min - L binned 1x1
A rather ignored planetary, probably because some catalogues list it at the unrealistic faint magnitude of 13.3. To the human eye it is much brighter than that and it is actually relatively easy to see (nebula filter will help).
NGC 1514 in Taurus

Very beautiful planetary but of a quite low surface brightness.

Low surface brightness planetary that is difficult to observe from my location. First light
on new Astronomik RGB filters. The luminance was made through an Astronomik CLS filter
